The Singapore Mint was founded in 1968, after the independence of Singapore from Malaysia. It is a government company responsible for making the currency of Singapore and keeping it from being counterfeited. It has outlets in Orchard Road, where they sell special numbered banknotes and coins. The Singapore mint also runs a coin gallery, open free to the public. The mint collected S$5 million in 2009 when it organised a coin-note exchange, twice the amount of previous years, possibly due to the economic downturn.

New Enemies, New Allies

Right from the start we’re given a glimpse of a stranger in town when the boys roll down Charming’s main street on their first day out of the slammer. It turns out that this man is with the U.S Attorney's office and they’ve set up shop in Charming, in the offices right above the newly-installed San Joaquin sheriff’s department. The audience has always known that despite all their claims of being merely a motorcycle club that the boys of SAMCRO are really more akin to a motorcycle mafia—this type of wide-scale investigation into the club and its surrounding factions is long overdue after the range of criminal activities Jax, Clay, and the boys have participated in over the past three years and longer.

    “I was so caught up in the wonderful NDP 2011 and felt so proud of being a Singaporean, that i wanted to capture that moment of pride, at the very tail end of the anthem, to share on FB with my residents. If in my enthusiasm i offended anyone, please accept my apologies. NDP is a time to unite not divide. Majulah Singapura!”

Ms Penny Low Member of Parliament for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC was caught looking preoccupied with her mobile phone in the midst of singing the national anthem at Singapore’s 46th National Day Parade.

Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam commenting on this on his Facebook said that this must be an addiction for Ms Low as she should have known that the cameras would be on her. But some on twitter were however defending Ms Low saying she had dropped her phone and was merely picking it up.

Fire at Afro Asia Building

SINGAPORE: A fire that broke out at the Afro Asia Building at Robinson Road has been put out.

The SCDF has confirmed the death of one person and that the team found the body after fire was put out. There were no injuries.

There are several ambulances at the scene along with three to four fire engines.

Police had to close roads around the area to the public due to the fire.

The affected roads are Mccallum Street (between Shenton Way and Robinson Road), Boon Tat Link and Maxwell Link.

Traffic Police officers will be deployed at the affected roads to divert and regulate traffic.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the affected areas.

The public may call the police hotline at 1800-5471818 for further enquiries concerning the matter.

Aya Hirano S-e-x Scandal  :The latest issue of Japanese magazine, Bubka (known for publishing accurate scandals), has published pictures of Aya Hirano in bed which looks like a 'post-sex' photo. Sources suggest that the reason behind why she was sacked by her label was due to her scandalous affairs with her band mates, following reports from Jpop Asia website.

Many are sure that the guy in the picture with her is none other than, Katsundo, a 35-year-old guitarist in Aya's band. Further revelations by insiders within her agency include, Aya being very "feisty" with her band mates and that she had slept with almost all of her band mates except for the bassist. As a result she was reported and the three who slept with her got fired.

Another Earth Movie Review: An Incredible Tale of Love and Redemption

This film has an intriguing sci-fi premise about a duplicate earth but, unfortunately, it gets relegated to the realm of sub-plot and the focus is placed on a tedious romance that is a poor substitute for the extra-terrestrial adventure we could have enjoyed.
Rhoda’s (Brit Marling) dreams of becoming an astrophysicist come to an abrupt end when she drinks and drives, injuring John Burroughs (William Mapother) and killing his pregnant wife and child. She serves a four year prison sentence and, on her return, tracks down her victim and infiltrates his life without identifying herself as the perpetrator of the tragedy that destroyed his family. On the same day as the accident, a planet appears that scientists believe to be similar to our own and when Rhoda is released from prison she enters a competition to win a ticket for a trip to what has been christened Earth 2.

Another Earth Movie Review An Incredible Tale of Love and Redemption

This is a character driven drama that puts the architect of the crime and the victim dangerously close and leads the audience to believe that guilt, remorse, blame and forgiveness will be played out in the arena, but these promises are never kept. We see the two together, scene after scene, but barely a word is exchanged and when Rhoda finally reveals who she is, Burroughs merely tells her to “get out”, and the grand battle we anticipated dissolves before our very eyes.

Captain America The First Avenger, a Fair review.(Spoilers)

Ok, Captain America has been a movie of much debate and for a while has had mixed reviews. And in my opinion it’s all about taste when it comes to most of the. Having just finished watching the film (in 2D) I was glad to see that they did destroy one of my favorite characters of all time.
What really drew me into the story is the fact that it actually has The Cap frozen in ice method rather than something considered “More realistic.” But I’m rambling.
The movie was a well written film with a good message. Steve Rogers is a good man, and that is why he gets to be this hero. And he retains these values without coming off as preachy. Which is hard to do in a Pro War movie. He does not want to kill, but if it is the only way to protect his country he will. The dialogue felt like it belonged in the 1940’s. And while it is jokey, it is not jokey to the point of ridiculousness *cough cough Transformers Movies Cough cough Green Lantern* The Humor felt like it was natural and flowed well. They never sacrificed character for a joke.

Chris Evans: When I first heard about the casting for Captain America rumor was that it was going to be the Chris Pine who played Steve, and I thought that was brilliant, then I heard it was Chris Evans, The Human Torch. I was disappointed, but I must say he disappeared into this role, I forgot he was ever the human torch and saw Cap! His facial expressions his actions everything.

Steven Spielberg made his first appearance at Comic Con on Friday, and Variety is reporting that he announced that there will in fact be a “Jurassic Park 4.” News that it’d be ready “in the next two of three years” set Twitter on fire with excited responses.

When 24-year-old double amputee Oscar Pistorius runs at the 400m race in the 2012 London Olympics, he would have done what no other man has ever done before – become the first sprinter to compete for both Olympic and Paralympic gold.

London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe said on Thursday that he looked forward to Pistorius competing at both the world championships in South Korea next month and the Games in London.
